Ride for Refuge

On Saturday October 4th, Hamilton will ride to support some of its favourite partner charities.  The Ride for Refuge is a fantastically fun, family-friendly bike-a-thon that supports 175+ charities who serve the displaced, vulnerable, and exploited across Canada!  TrueCity congregations come together each year to help this event happen in our city.

If you or a group at your church is interested in volunteering, please contact Location Director Jill Trites at

If you can’t join the Ride, you can still sponsor a team to donate to a great local mission.  Check out the list of options here!

Last year we passed our goal of 300 riders, and made over $ 75,000 for our amazing partners! The collaborative efforts of our churches – from Eucharist’s awesome decorations and cheerleaders, the kitchen team from Immanuel who were tireless and put out fantastic food, the photographers and registration folk from Grindstone and the Meeting House who came at dawn and got through the day without losing a dime, the cohesive team of ‘sweepers’ from Meeting House, and the crazy rest stations like Micah House, CAP, and Walk With Me who weathered the cold day – all came together to be more than the sum of its parts.  And let’s not forget the riders, who came from all over our city to raise funds for organizations working with our most marginalized neighbours.   It is always amazing to see congregations throughout the city understand themselves to be integrally and essentially connected with each other as part of the one mission of God.   Click here to see the photo gallery from the day.
