January 16th – Andy Crouch: Culture Making, Playing God, and the Common Good
“Absolute love transfigures absolute power. And power transfigured by love is the power that made and saves the world.”
On January 16th the TrueCity network is hosting a special one-day event to encourage and challenge us to live more fully into the vision of being churches together for the good of our city. Culture Making, Playing God, and the Common Good will feature noted Christian author and speaker Andy Crouch.
In the morning’s session Andy will lead us in an exploration of what role churches have in pursuing the common good. The afternoon session will explore the question, “in a world marked by the abuse of power, how can Christian leaders use power in ways that lead to restoration, healing, and human flourishing?
Andy Crouch is the author of the influential book Culture Making: Recovering Our Creative Calling. Published in 2008, it was awarded Christianity Today’s Book Award for Christianity and Culture and was named one of the best books of that year by Publishers Weekly, Relevant, Outreach and Leadership.
