Prayer and Evangelism

Acting on God’s Heart for Others

Abraham Madrandele and Andy Groen

Within the church there is a growing awareness of its calling to be engaged in mission. Many followers of Christ Jesus are wondering how they can actively bring His light and life into their communities, workplaces, homes, neighbourhoods and cities.  While we wholeheartedly affirm this growing missional zeal we want to encourage followers of Jesus to embrace, individually and communally, an equally zealous prayer life that can empower believers to faithfully share the gospel wherever they find themselves.  This workshop will include prayer, teaching from several key scriptures, story telling and discussion on the themes of Prayer and Evangelism.

Abraham headshotAbraham Madrandele has been working with  Greater Ontario House of Prayer (GOHOP) as a prayer missionary for four years.  In addition to participating in the ongoing ministries and prayer events with GOHOP, his work includes mentoring young people, preaching and teaching locally and internationally and hosting weekly prayer meetings in his home.  Abraham is an evangelist deep at heart. His heart and desire is that all people (especially young people) would know the love of God and come into the Kingdom of God.  His preaching and evangelism have taken him to Kenya, Belgium, France, Holland, Germany, Brazil,  India, South Africa, Zambia, United States, Swaziland, Mozambique, Angola as well as several cities in Canada.  He so naturally embodies the Father’s love; his kindness, love and passion have impacted more people (especially young adults) than one can count.

Andy headshot 1Andy Groen works for the Greater Ontario House of Prayer (GOHOP) serving as the as the Director of Spiritual Formation.  He oversees and gives spiritual direction to the interns in GOHOP’s 10-month internship program. His work in spiritual direction extends beyond GOHOP as Andy works with individuals from across the city and across denominational lines. Andy draws strength from various Christian traditions: he is rooted in the Reformed tradition, by nature a contemplative and drawn to charismatic spirituality. Andy is regularly engaged in leading workshops, speaking, teaching and preaching in Hamilton and beyond.  He loves to teach on prayer, hearing God’s voice and spiritual gifts.  He also leads and participates in the Barnabas prayer group, a group that aims to equip the body of Christ to hear and discern God’s voice. Andy has an MDiv from Tyndale Seminary.  He is married to Gwendolen and they have two busy, beautiful children, Noah and Annalise.  As a family they are committed to loving their city, practicing hospitality and living lives of prayer.
